Check Outs
Books - in print, on audiocassette or on CD – are checked out for 3 weeks, and may be renewed up to 3 times, if nobody else has reserved it. Magazines and videos are checked out for 1 week, and may also be renewed. Equipment, such as GPS units or telescopes, are checked out for one week, and are not renewable.
Library Cards
Getting a library card is quick and easy! Any resident of Lake County is eligible for a free library card. Just bring a picture ID with a current Lake County address. If you have just moved here and have not yet changed the address on your ID, you may bring a rent receipt, letter from your landlord, or mail with your current address (such as a utility bill).
If you are new to the area, please come in, have a
look around, and get acquainted. New patrons are allowed to check out
up to 4 items at a time, and after a probationary period of 3 months
may request regular patron status, which allows each patron to check
out 12 items at a time. Some services, such as interlibrary loans or
use of telescopes, are restricted to patrons of at least 3 months
standing. Please feel free to speak to any of the library staff if you
have any questions.
Non-residents may pay an annual fee of
$20 to receive a Lake County Library card , which affords all the
borrowing privileges of a regular patron, including equipment and
interlibrary loans.
A processing fee of $3 is charged for the replacement of a lost library card.
Youth and Teen Services
Our
collections include books, audios, videos and magazines for children of
all ages. Storytimes for toddlers and pre-schoolers are held throughout
the year, and the Summer Reading Program provides activities, crafts,
story hours and more. Stop by and check it out!
Reference Assistance
All
library staff members are pleased to be able to help patrons, whether
you're looking for reading suggestions, have a specific question, need
help with the internet, or are looking for community information. If we
don't have an answer, we can help you find other resources. Ask a
librarian!
Outreach Activities
Did you
know your library works in cooperation with lots of other community
organizations to provide a wonderful variety of programs and services?
We offer: story hours and 'library tours' to schools and day care;
audiobooks through the State Library as well as from our own
collection, expanded with generous gifts from United Way; monthly
programs featuring creative and talented Lake County residents,
supported in part by the Oregon Cultural Trust and the Lake County
Cultural Coalition; the Summer Reading Program, which includes craft
activities, games and giveways to encourage reading and lifelong
learning ... all this, and more in the works!
