What if every Oregonian read the same book?

"There is no remedy so easy as books, which if they do not give cheerfulness, at least restore quiet to the most troubled mind."

—Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689-1762) English society figure, letter writer

A program about the Basque's migrant herding lifestyle and their continued decline.

Kent McAdoo, a natural resources officer with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Service will be presenting a lively program about the Basque’s migrant herding lifestyles. McAdoo is an engaging presenter who lived and worked with Basque herders for 13 months in the early 1970s. “Sheep numbered in the millions in the eastern half of Oregon at the turn of the last century, and the numbers of Basque herders in the West have roughly mirrored sheep numbers through the years,” McAdoo said. “Numbers have continued to decline, and it is hard to find a Basque herder today.” Basque Flag
