Part of the Celebrating Creativity series, this is a fun, exciting program about the history of Idaho and the American West in which Clark T. Heglar brings the "Oldest Man of Idaho" to life. Immediately following is a cake and punch reception to welcome the new librarian, Amy Hutchinson.
The "Oldest Man of Idaho" is a charming character who who shares his vast knowledge of the American West through colorful tales, recollections and anecdotes. In a format similar to Hal Holbrook's "Mark Twain Tonight,"geology, Native Americans, mountain men, miners, loggers, ranchers, sheepmen, farmers, settlers, politicians and courageous women come together in an informal blend of anecdotal tales and stories of his time. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the "oldster" while he is still in character--history buffs please test his knowledge here!-- and afterwards ask questions of Mr. Heglar about the program.
