Global Positioning Units
22 megabyte Explorist 210 GPS units are available for one week check out from the Lake County libraries.
Through a grant provided by the Libraries of Eastern Oregon the Lake County Libraries received several 22 megabyte Magellan Explorist 210 global positioning sytems (GPS) for one week checkout to Lake County Library patrons.
GPS are electronic devices which utilize satellite signals to provide coordinates in locating roads, highways, waterways, airports, cities and parks and etc.
GPS are also utilized for the currently popular outdoor activity, geochaching, in which the devices are used to track down hidden items by inputting coordinate information. The website at www.geocaching.com provides more information.
